Amigos of Costa Rica is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering philanthropic engagement in Costa Rica. At the core of their mission is the vetting of nonprofits in Costa Rica, facilitating meaningful connections between donors and projects in need of financial support. Through their dedicated efforts, Amigos of Costa Rica plays a pivotal role in channeling resources towards impactful initiatives, contributing to the betterment of communities and the promotion of positive change in the country.
In response to the evolving needs of Amigos of Costa Rica (ACR), we led a comprehensive branding and digital overhaul — refreshing their visual identity and rebuilding their website to reflect their growing role in international philanthropy. The strategic redesign improved content organization and introduced a streamlined backend workflow for vetting and onboarding nonprofit organizations into their growing directory.
One of the most transformative additions was the development of a secure, password-protected member portal for participating organizations. This private area functions as a centralized command center for over 125 nonprofits — providing critical access to training materials, internal announcements, important documentation, and direct communication from ACR. It has become an important way for ACR to engage with its partner organizations, offering a robust and reliable solution for supporting their large internal network from within their public-facing website.
Each nonprofit in the directory now has a dedicated profile page, complete with photo and video galleries to support storytelling and donor engagement. Multiple donation options were integrated as well to offer a flexible, user-friendly giving experience for donors. Member organizations also have a direct line to request website updates from the Enginate team, ensuring their content stays accurate and aligned with real-time needs on the ground.
We designed the website to be flexible and scalable — capable of supporting ACR’s rapid growth while integrating new features like a blog, job board, and a variety of emergency response pages. In 2024, the platform helped facilitate ACR’s highest fundraising year to date, further validating the strength of their infrastructure.
We also introduced a new Leadership section to showcase board member bios and boost transparency — strengthening donor trust and stakeholder confidence. A custom disaster-response donation module, originally developed during the 2022 flood crisis and redeployed for multiple emergencies in 2024–2025, is now a reusable feature. It enables ACR to quickly launch targeted pages in response to future regional or nationwide crises.
Through consistent communication, fast turnaround times, and reliable platform monitoring, we’ve supported ACR in scaling its directory from 55 to over 150 organizations. While the number of listed nonprofits has stabilized, we’re continuing to enhance the platform with new features — including tools to showcase transparency and deepen donor engagement — ensuring the site continues to evolve and serve ACR’s mission even more effectively.
